Insertion Loss

Laser Source, Optical Power meter (OPM)

To measure insertion loss of any passive fiber optic device or cable, proceed as follows:

1. Connect the OPM directly to the Laser Source via a fiber optic patch cable

2. Press the dB or REL button on the OPM

3. Disconnect the OPM from the patch cable and connect the Device Under Test between the OPM and patch cable

4. The insertion loss will be shown in dB on the OPM's LCD.
